New entrance fees at the Sagrada Familia!

Attention! Breaking news!

From July 1st, the new entrance fee for the Sagrada Familia Church will be 10 euro for individuals or 8 euro for visitors with an official tourguide!

Tapas tours are a favorite!

This year my Tapas Tours are becoming everyone's favorite!

Tapas are these famous way to eat in Spain: small portions (appetizer-like) to share with friends and family and have fun!

In my tapas tours I take you around the Old Town jumping from bar to bar discovering the food of different regions of Spain (basque, galician, catalan...), different products (sausages, egg, vegetables, fish and seafood, wine, bread...) and different styles (from the shabby taberns to fancy design tapas bars). A yummy way to discover the local lifestyle!

Here is a picture of the Tapas Tour with the Gleit family!

The Grec Festival is here!

Every summer, the Grec Festival comes back to Barcelona!

One of the greatest scenic arts event in the city, this Festival offers hundreds of shows including dance, music, theater, circus and more! And it is a unique opportunity to enjoy some theater plays in English by invited troops as well (for those who complain all the shows in town are in Catalan, which is mostly true for most part of the year anyway...).

Some shows (specially dance and circus) are outdoors and even free of charge, but they are pretty popular so be sure to get there early.

Check out the schedule and buy tickets here.
And enjoy the show!

June 23rd - Saint John's Eve

Saint John's Eve is a big event everywhere in Catalonia. The night of the summer solstice is a night of magic and fire.

In many villages and some Barcelona traditional neighborhoods people will lit big fires (jump accross for good luck). It's the night of fireworks and powder. People will organize dinners that will end with cava (local sparkling wine) toasts and the traditional Saint John's desert: coca of all kinds (pine nuts, glazed fruits, cream, lardons...) yummy!

There will be lots of macro-parties and late-night dancing in clubs (we could compare it to New Year's Eve). If you stay up until the sunrise, then you must bath in the sea for more good luck. And after that, finish the night eating churros and hot chocolate (you'll find bars in la Rambla and the Old Town will be open around 6-7am).

To find ideas on what to do for that night, check out the day newspapers: usually La Vanguardi and El Periodico publish nice listings (and ask the receptionist of your hotel to translate it for you!). And if you are planning to go out for dinner... remember to get your reservation ASAP!!!!

Enjoy the beggining of the summer!

New temporary exhibit at the Picasso Museum

Until September 28, your ticket to the Picasso Museum will include, appart from the entrance to their permanent collection, the temporary exhibit "Forgetting Velazquez. Las Meninas".
http://www.bcn.cat/museupicasso/en/exhibitions/current.html

This exhibit shows how Velazquez masterpiece, las Meninas (which you can visit in the Prado Museum in Madrid), has influenced artists throughout history.
The first rooms analyse some of the painting's main characters so we get to understand who they were, and then the exhibit explores how Picasso and other contemporary artists fascinated by Velazquez's work reinterpreted it and used it as a source of inspiration.

Foody tours with http://wishyouwereheretours.com !

Wine tasting at Gramona Cellar / At Cal Pep, Jose and Jordan offered us their best Tapas
Lori, one of the owners of http://wishyouwereheretours.com/ was in Barcelona this week with Ed and Linda, her clients. They spent a whole week enjoying the tastes and flavours of Barcelona, and of course I was there to show them the best foody spots!

Amongst other activities, we had a yummy tapas tour, we visited 2 cellars in the Penedès county, and strolled around the Old Town discovering great Gourmet stores (the savory products tour included a cheese tasting, and the sweet products tour started with super-rich thick hot chocolate with churros!).

In the Gramona cellar, we were lucky to visit the Gramona cava cellar on the week when skilled workers degorge more than 200.000 bottles manually.
