If you are in Barcelona today, everywhere you go you'll hear people singing the Queen's "We we'll rock you" tune with some Catalan words. What is it all about? They are singing: "Copa, Lliga i Champions", and that is because last night our Barcelona soccer team (often known as Barça) won the third big trophy of the year. First was the Spanish King's Cup, then the Spanish League, and now... the European Champions League! If you also add the fact that we scored 6 goals against the ever-rival Real Madrid... That is their Big Year!
Last night they defeated the Manchester United in Rome, and the celebration in town (and everywhere else!) lasted the whole night long. And today the team paraded accross the city so the locals could celebrate with them.
I'm not a soccer fan, but today I got to the accademy where I take evening dance lessons to see that... the parade was scheduled to pass right in front of it!!! There was already a crowd waiting for them, and by the time my lesson was over and I got back to the street, the team hadn't got there yet so I decided to stay. The place is not too close from the very center, so instead of crazy fans there were lots of happy teenagers and parents with their kids sporting the Barça t-shirts. It took me an hour wait, but in the end I got you a few pictures. Sorry if they are a bit blurry, I only had my cellphone with me and the quality isn't that good. And with the emotion, it was hard to keep the hand steady!!!!
Visca el Barça!
